Route from Fes Middle Atlas Kasbah Desert Fes

The driver will wait for you at Fez airport and will accompany you to the road so that you can leave your luggage and have the whole day to visit the city. Includes overnight Riad + breakfast.

We have all day to visit the city accompanied by our guide and/ or enjoy a free time in it. Includes breakfast.

Pick up at the hotel or Riad where they are staying in Fez at 8 am and we head south to cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach Ifrane, called ”the little Moroccan Switzerland” for its great resemblance to that country.

One of the animals that used to live here was the Atlas lion, which is why it has become the symbol of the city and to which a stone statue has been dedicated in the center of it.

We will take the opportunity to stop and take some photos. Later we will cross the famous cedar forests, the largest thousand-year-old cedar in the region and also feed the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys that inhabit the area.

Lunch in Midélt and in the afternoon we will go to the Todra gorges passing through the Amelago gorges.

We will spend the night in a Riad next to the Todra gorge, at night the possibility of taking a walk through the gorge and if we are lucky and there is a full moon it is a spectacle

After breakfast, we will continue to visit the spectacular gorges of Todra perched at 1,350 m altitude and surrounded by a palm grove with the possibility of a walk through the famous palm grove valley of Todra.

We will continue our journey along the banks of the valley, where there is a staggered road of kasbahs (fortresses or castles) and ksour (fortified citadel), whose landscape is ocher, red and mauve. Around us we will find stony plateaus where camels graze. After a journey full of ksour, oasis and palm trees we will reach Tineghir.

We continue towards Erfoud (city of fossils) and then we will arrive at Rissani, with its interesting market, where the nomads of the surroundings come to sell s or cattle and buy the belongings they need. Finally we will reach Merzouga, where we will spend the night in a riad in front of the dunes.

Today will be a Total Desert day.

After a hearty and rich breakfast, we will surround the Erg Chebbi, an extension of desert sand where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, more than 250 meters high, and connect by track with part of the route that followed the old
Paris - Dakar and the mountains that border Algeria in the background.

Stop at the oasis of Tissardmin where we can find a race of Fossils that is still in this region and continue our route to a nomadic settlement where we will learn some of the secrets of his life and customs.

Then stop at a panoramic point where we can contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole.

We will reach the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax having a tea while enjoying a small concert of spiritual Gnawa music.

Return to the Hotel to go out in caravan of dromedaries to enter the heart of the dunes and contemplate an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the dromedaries to the camp where we will stay in Haimas "Tents made with dromedary hair" like those used by the nomads of the desert.

Dinner and overnight in tents in the heart of the desert under a spectacular mantle of stars.

“Cita con el Amanecer” ya que se encuentra en el desierto es recomendable levantarse temprano para caminar hasta la duna más alta que se encuentra alrededor del campamento para disfrutar del amanecer y de este relajante paisaje que nos ofrece la naturaleza.

Desayuno y regreso a Merzouga en 4×4 o dromedarios para encontrarnos con nuestro guía.

Una vez listos, nos dirigiremos hacia el norte a través del Palmeral de Tafilalet donde podremos contemplar una infinidad de palmeras en 20km, lo que lo convierte en uno de los palmerales más grandes del mundo. Atravesándolo llegaremos al Valle del Ziz, nombre que recibe del río que baja del Alto Atlas y alimenta el palmeral.

Aquí haremos una parada obligatoria para observar el Valle desde las alturas y ver el pueblo de Aoufous. Parada programada en Midelt, en pleno corazón del atlas, para descansar un rato y almorzar. Por la tarde continuaremos nuestro camino pasando nuevamente por el Bosque de Cedros.

Llegada a Fez sobre las 18:00 horas, traslado al hotel. Noche en Hotel.
